Sparkle Bubble Pop

Happy New Year’s Eve, glamorous gals and guys!  Tonight is a dream; an a capella sonnet set to the neighbor’s vibrating techno bass.  Glimmering, erratic lights dancing wildly before your eyes; a magical moment in time when star-crossed lovers seal their tragically beautiful fate with a liplock for the ages.  At precisely the turn of one year into the next: a pop, bang, and boom; clamoring of pots and pans and a visual whirlwind of streamers, sequins, and head-tilting laughs.  A night for short skirts and long odes and even longer goodbyes.  All fueled by scintillating, sparkling glasses (and for me, a murder mystery dinner show!).

At this radiant time of the year, I can’t help but think of one iconic it girl.  One silver screen starlet.  One who loved and loved to be loved.  And one who certainly adored her champagne.  Her infamous monogram.  MM.  A girl always out on the town, painting it her signature shade of champagne blonde.

From a girl who owned a cardboard cutout of Marilyn Monroe at the the age of 16, here are my favorite photos:
